A self portrait done near the end of the first year in Grad School. The quote below by the painter Olaf Palm describes well the process of creating this piece.

is hard...you can’t ignore that. Just once in a while does it go along
with real pleasure...You get tense, impatient, disgusted...Then
afterward, you have this image before you and hopefully, you can say,
‘Yes, that’s how it is. How incredibly subtle.’ Now you turn it over to
the others, unless it’s very private. You hope the others can see the
magic in it.”
